Ray Morton was born in West Islip, New York and grew up on Long Island and Connecticut.
The oldest of nine children, he graduated from Stamford Catholic High School in Stamford, Connecticut. He then attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production.
After graduation, Morton moved to Los Angeles and enrolled as a Screenwriting Fellow at the American Film Institute. He later worked as a writer on several situation comedies, including Showtime's groundbreaking series Brothers, produced by Paramount Pictures Television. He continues to work in Hollywood as a story consultant and script analyst and is also a senior writer and columnist for Scr(i)pt magazine.
In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Morton has earned a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and currently volunteers as a psychotherapy intern at a community mental health clinic in the Los Angeles area.
